We are seeking an Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst to join our Technology team. This role is crucial for the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs, contributing significantly to application systems analysis and programming activities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on development skills in modern technologies

Responsibilities

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts, alongside expertise in various technical areas, to identify, define, and implement necessary system enhancements.
  • This includes significant hands-on development using languages like Java and Python for core application logic and scripting, as well as actively analyzing and interpreting existing codebases.
  • Design, develop, and implement robust and scalable application features, frequently leveraging microservices architectures to enhance modularity and performance.
  • Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, recommending and implementing programming solutions.
  • This involves hands-on development to install and support critical customer exposure systems.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of Java , Python , and other programming languages for comprehensive design specifications, ensuring high-quality and maintainable code.
  • Proactively analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, conducting thorough testing and debugging, including unit, integration, and system tests.
  • Serve as an advisor and coach to new or lower-level analysts, sharing technical knowledge and best practices, particularly in Java , Python , and microservices development.
  • Identify complex problems, analyze information, and make evaluative judgments to recommend and implement effective technical solutions.
  • Resolve issues by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience, guided by established precedents and architectural patterns.
  • Operate with a limited level of direct supervision, exercising independence of judgment and autonomy in technical decisions and implementation.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and other team members, especially concerning Java , Python , and microservices implementations.
  • Appropriately assess risk when making technical and business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
  • This includes driving compliance with applicable laws, rules
  • regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct
  • reporting control issues with transparency

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of relevant hands-on development experience in the Financial Services industry.
  • Intermediate level experience in an Applications Development role with a strong focus on practical coding and system design.
  • Proven hands-on development experience with Java , including proficiency with core APIs and modern frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot).
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying microservices -based applications.
  • Solid hands-on experience with Python for scripting, data processing, automation, or application development.
  • Experience with Generative AI (GenAI) technologies, including working with large language models (LLMs), machine learning frameworks, or AI/ML-driven application development, is a significant add-on.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication, especially when explaining technical concepts.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a technical context.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience This job description provides a high-level review of the types of work performed.
