Data Migration Architect (Senior or Lead) Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Company is seeking a Data Migration Architect (Senior or Lead) to join our team in Hazelwood, MO; Arlington, VA; Long Beach, CA; North Charleston, SC, and Seattle, WA.
The Data Migration Architect will design and own canonical data models, data migration architecture, mapping standards, reconciliation/lineage frameworks and automation for enterprise data migrations involving Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Product Data Management (PDM), Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM).
The role combines hands‑on technical delivery with governance: leading mapping libraries, staging/change data capture (CDC), Application Programming Interface (API) patterns, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) for migration artifacts, and performance engineering for large binaries.
This is a strategic role that ensures repeatable, auditable and high‑performance migrations across domain systems. Position Responsibilities: Define and own the canonical data model(s) and mapping governance across ERP, PDM and MOM domains Design migration architecture: landing/staging zones, bulk vs CDC patterns, APIs, message flows, and storage strategy for large binaries Create and maintain the mapping registry, reusable transformation modules, naming/versioning conventions and survivorship rules Specify reconciliation, lineage and audit frameworks (checksums, object‑level logs, immutable traces) and embed them into migration pipelines Lead CI/CD and automation strategy for migration artifacts: test harnesses, deployment pipelines, orchestration and rollback processes Collaborate with domain leads and technical leaders to validate ERP, PDM, MOM connector behavior, performance characteristics and failure modes; drive acceptance criteria Implement data security controls in migration pipelines: encryption, masking for non‑prod, access controls and privileged access patterns Performance migration flows: sizing, throughput tuning, batching strategies, and large‑file transfer optimization Produce architecture diagrams, deployment artifacts and documentation.
Enforce standardization and reuse across data migration waves Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 5+ years of experience in enterprise data strategy and infrastructure, including data architecture and governance 5+ years of experience enterprise architecture experience, including but not limited to cloud architecture, security, data privacy, integration, and deployment 5+ years of experience enterprise architecture experience, including but not limited to cloud architecture, security, data privacy, integration, and deployment 5+ years of experience with scripting languages such as ACL, SQL Developer, Oracle, XML, MySQL, Python 5+ years of experience delivering architecture & design solutions supporting data security Experience navigating engineering document management system, or similar PDM (Product Data Management) system, like Windchill™ Experience with audit frameworks and compliance standards Experience with CI/CD and configuration management with release processes Experience applying engineering principles to solve advanced design, assembly, performance, and testing problems Experience leading and partnering with cross-functional teams, involving key stakeholder relationship management Able and willing to travel up to 25% of the time domestically Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 10 or more years of higher education and/or related work experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience Advanced degree or certifications in data architecture, cloud architecture, or related fields Experience in aerospace, defense or other regulated industries with strict audit/traceability requirements Experience with data migration tools and ability to assess connectors.
Experience with PDM (Teamcenter) and MOM (Opcenter) migration projects specifically Experience with data cataloging and metadata management tools Experience with cloud/on‑prem hybrid architectures for migration infrastructure Experience with translating business rules into robust technical transformations Knowledge of export control implications for engineering data and practices for masking or segmented data access Excellent stakeholder and communication skills Conflict of Interest: Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
