As a Risk & Underwriting Senior Analyst in The Cigna Group’s Pharmacy Underwriting Development Program, you will help support pricing and underwriting strategies for pharmacy benefits solutions. Your work will contribute to competitive financial offers, thoughtful risk management, and business decisions that support our clients, customers, and enterprise growth.

Through structured training, hands-on projects, and meaningful team collaboration, you will develop knowledge of Pharmacy Benefits Management, build technical and professional skills, and gain exposure to business-critical work in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pricing strategies for new and renewing business , including RFPs, direct offers, and market checks.
  • Analyze financial data to assess business impacts, including formulary, network, and specialty drug changes.
  • Contribute to client proposals and recommendations that balance competitiveness, client needs, and financial risk.
  • Assist with contracting and implementation activities to support pricing accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop compliant, business-aligned financial solutions.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning through financial trend analysis.
  • Build PBM industry knowledge while strengthening analytical, communication, and business skills.

  • Required Qualifications A bachelor’s degree is required .
  • Preference for the following major and/or minors are preferred: Risk Management, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics
  • Finance Relevant internship in related field preferred (Risk Management, Economics
  • Finance or similar) Comfort working with Excel for analysis, reporting, modeling
  • data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills .
  • Attention to detail and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred Demonstrated leadership, curiosity, innovative thinking, and ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute to a team-oriented culture.
  • Customer-focused mindset with interest in healthcare, finance, risk, or underwriting.
  • Additional Information : Start Date: July 2027 Location: This position is based in one of the following office locations: Franklin, TN or Morris Plains, NJ.
  • The role requires a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three days per week working onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, and one additional day of the employee’s choice), and the option to work the remaining days remotely.
  • Relocation assistance is not offered, and employees must be able to meet the onsite schedule for their assigned office location.
  • Pre ‑ Employment Requirements: Selected candidates will be required to complete mandatory pre ‑ employment tasks approximately 45 days prior to the program start date.
  • Completion of the drug test requires availability within the United States during this timeframe .
  • Work Authorization : This position is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa support including H-1B or CPT/OPT/STEM, etc., now or in the future.
  • If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
  • For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 58,400 - 97,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
  • This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
