We own that decision. Our team within Prime Video Commerce owns critical offer orchestration and pricing services that power the global commerce experience. Our systems determine pricing, apply promotions, compose bundles
- serve the right offer to the right customer across every Prime Video surface. We process millions of requests per second, operate across 100+ markets
- sit on the critical path for every Prime Video transaction worldwide, spanning subscriptions, rentals, purchases, channels
- bundles. The challenge is not scale alone. It is scale plus rapid change. We are expanding into dozens of new marketplaces each year, each with unique payment methods, regulatory requirements
- pricing models. We are building dynamic pricing capabilities, enabling promotional experiences for major commercial events
- evolving how offers are composed as the product portfolio grows. Every new market and every new offer type adds combinatorial complexity to a system that must remain correct, fast
- available. We are looking for a Senior SDE who wants to own hard problems in a system where getting it wrong means a customer sees the wrong price, cannot complete their purchase
- misses an offer they should have seen. You will own services end-to-end, make architectural calls, ship to production
- operate what you build. The work is technical, the impact is immediate
- the problems do not come pre-solved. Key job responsibilities - Own and evolve offer orchestration and pricing services that determine what customers see globally, making architecture decisions for correctness, latency
- resilience - Design systems that handle the combinatorial complexity of multi-market, multi-currency, multi-promotion offer serving at millions of TPS - Investigate and resolve production issues that cross service boundaries, often requiring deep analysis of traffic patterns, caching behavior
- downstream dependencies to find non-obvious root causes - Drive marketplace expansion from an engineering perspective: configuration, offer distribution, compliance requirements
- end-to-end validation across new territories - Build and maintain operational health for Tier-1 services: stress testing, capacity planning, alarm tuning, scaling strategies
- incident prevention - Propose and drive architectural improvements that reduce operational toil, improve system reliability
- eliminate classes of production defects, without waiting to be asked - Provide technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews
- architecture guidance, helping engineers across the team make better decisions and grow in scope - Leverage AI tooling strategically to accelerate engineering workflows, automate repetitive tasks
- improve development velocity while maintaining quality and ownership of all design decisions A day in the life One morning you are tracing why an offer disappeared for customers in a specific region, following the data flow through multiple services until you find the filtering logic that does not account for a lifecycle edge case. The next day you are designing how a new promotional pricing type should propagate through the offer pipeline without breaking existing business rules. Later in the week you are reviewing stress test results, comparing actual traffic distribution against test configurations
- filing a scaling request based on your analysis. On Friday you are pairing with a newer engineer on their first multi-market configuration change, helping them understand the compliance implications before they ship. The work moves between deep technical investigation, system design, production operations

- 8+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing
- operational excellence - 3+ years of distributed systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing
- operations - Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders - Experience building and operating high-availability services in production with demonstrated ownership of operational health
- Experience in payments or e-commerce - Experience in Database like NoSQL
- experience in technical support and experience with automation and any version control tools - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team - Experience with international expansion: regulatory compliance, local payment methods, market-specific configuration at scale - Familiarity with caching strategies, traffic analysis
