Job Description

Compliance with our legal and regulatory employment obligations across Europe is critical and central to our HR and business objectives. This role supports our Compliance agenda by providing central oversight and guidance on areas of HR compliance requirements and effective governance.

There is a strong focus on right to work and employment of young people and safeguarding. This role supports the delivery of our compliance agenda through the following activities: Right to work Act as the subject matter expert and escalation point for right to work and sponsorship matters.

Provide expert advice and guidance to HR teams, people managers and business stakeholders on right to work and sponsorship requirements. Monitor immigration legislative changes and assess business impact, ensuring policies, processes and controls are updated accordingly.

Act as the key point of contact for Home Office communications and immigration compliance matters, working in partnership with external immigration providers. Support compliance requirements relating to posted worker notifications and cross-border working arrangements.

Partner closely with the Global Mobility team to ensure effective management of immigration-related activity across Europe. Sponsored visa compliance Provide guidance on sponsorship eligibility for HR and hiring managers. Oversee the end-to-end management of sponsored visa cases in partnership with HR Business Partners and external immigration providers.

Ensure compliance with sponsor licence obligations, including maintenance of Appendix D and associated compliance records. Monitor sponsorship activity and identify risks, trends and opportunities for process improvement. Compliance, governance and regulatory change Maintain subject matter expertise across key compliance areas including safeguarding, employment of young people, GDPR and other employment-related regulatory requirements.

Lead the implementation of legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring appropriate governance, communication and operational readiness. Support the development and execution of the Europe compliance strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and risk priorities.

Stakeholder engagement Promote a culture of compliance through education, coaching, knowledge-sharing and stakeholder engagement. Partner with HR Business Partners and key stakeholders to identify, assess and mitigate employment-related compliance risks.

Ensure high-risk issues are appropriately managed, governed and escalated. Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, external providers and regulatory partners. Represent Europe within global compliance forums, sharing insights, emerging risks and best practices while driving alignment across regions.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience Strong Employee Relations experience, including policy/process development (highly desirable) Strong technical expertise on legally compliant policies/processes, e.g. Right to Work, Data Protection, Pay, Working Time (UK essential, European experience highly desirable) Highly proficient communication skills both verbally and in writing: Ability to communicate concisely and clearly Ability to explain complex concepts simply Able to adapt communication style to audience Ability to design and implement compliant solutions and on-going governance Keen attention to detail and data accuracy Ability to influence and build relationships across organisational and geographic boundaries High personal impact and ability to gain credibility and establish trust quickly Experience of Retail and working in an international organisation an advantage Experience in a fast moving, customer facing organisation Able to manage big picture as well as the detail Can deal effectively with ambiguity You must have the legal right to work in the country you are applying to .
