How you will create an impact We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Claims Manager to lead a team of claims professionals handling a diverse portfolio of claims.
This role has a significant focus on property damage exposures arising from Garage operations and General Liability risks, including Garagekeepers claims and subcontractor-related property damage losses. The portfolio consists primarily of moderate-severity claims, generally valued up to $150,000 , requiring strong technical expertise in investigation, liability assessment, reserving, negotiation, and resolution.
The Claims Manager is responsible for driving technical excellence, operational performance, and talent development while ensuring superior claim outcomes and exceptional customer service. As a key member of the Claims leadership team, you will provide strategic direction and oversight throughout the claim lifecycle, including coverage evaluation, investigation, reserving, litigation management, negotiation, and resolution.
The successful candidate will actively partner with internal and external stakeholders, including underwriting, brokers, insureds, third-party administrators, and business leaders, to ensure consistent execution of claims strategies and alignment with organizational objectives.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to influence outcomes while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance. In addition to leading and developing the team, the Claims Manager will serve as a technical resource for complex property damage matters and provide guidance on coverage, liability, damages assessment, and resolution strategies.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of claims professionals to achieve technical excellence and deliver consistent, high-quality claim handling. Drive superior claim outcomes through effective oversight of coverage analysis, investigation strategies, reserving practices, litigation management, and settlement authority decisions.
Ensure timely and accurate claim evaluation, reserving, and resolution to effectively manage indemnity, expense, and litigation costs. Conduct regular file reviews and operational audits to assess claim quality, identify opportunities for improvement, and reinforce best practices.
Utilize claims analytics, dashboards, and management reporting to monitor performance, identify trends, and drive business results. Partner closely with underwriting and business leaders to provide insights regarding loss trends, emerging exposures, and portfolio performance.
Influence litigation strategies by collaborating with defense counsel, insureds, brokers, and TPAs to achieve optimal outcomes. Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to build organizational capability.
Promote operational excellence through process improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company claim handling standards. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
What you will need to succeed Bachelor's degree preferred. 8+ years of commercial casualty claims experience, including handling AL/GL claims. Prior leadership, supervisory, or team management experience preferred. Demonstrated expertise in coverage analysis, litigation management, reserving, negotiation, and claim resolution.
Strong financial acumen with the ability to effectively manage loss costs and claim expenses. Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable business strategies. Exceptional communication, collaboration, and relationship management skills.
Ability to influence across organizational levels and build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Track record of developing talent, fostering engagement, and leading high-performing teams. Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

For positions based in Massachusetts the base salary range is $122,000-$150,000. For positions based in New Jersey the base salary range is $122,000-$150,000.
In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
