About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Commercial Banking Portfolio Manager to support credit execution by ensuring the proper application of credit policies and procedures through effective review of the credit portfolio. This role acts as a first‑line execution and assurance enabler , allowing CB to meet its objectives consistently
In This Role, You Will
- Perform periodic reviews of credit reports prepared by credit underwriting team.
- Review and validate the accuracy in financial analysis for commercial loans including, but not limited to: financial covenants, yield, industry and revenue analysis, and financing structure and terms.
- Accurately identify deviations to credit policy & procedure by reviewing the credit documents.
- Clarify and credibly challenges in case of ambiguity or deviation to the policy and procedures.
- Summarize errors and outline areas of risk from reviewing the credit underwriting details.
- Surface and escalate risk often identified from inadequate or failed processes, and error trends.
- Document and synthesize findings based on above mentioned conclusions into a report presented to credit underwriting team.
- As needed, participate and provide SME expertise for business initiatives .
- Quality-check work performed by junior team members and provide appropriate feedback on the same.
- Training & mentoring junior colleagues along with reviewing, checking & overseeing and undertaking workload planning as well.
- Required Qualifications: 4+ years of Commercial Banking Portfolio Management experience
- equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Job Expectations: MBA (Finance /Banking), Cost and Management Accountancy, Chartered Accountancy or post- graduation in Economics. 4 + years of core commercial credit underwriting experience across diversified asset class (including corporate entities and real estate asset class) Experience in assessing credit worthiness of borrower based on various qualitative and quantitative factors.
- Expert level knowledge on financial statements for various industries with ability to ascertain trends, ratios and call out key risks when compared to benchmarks (historical and industry performance).
- Well-versed with Discounted Cash Flow, Comparable Company, and Precedent Transaction analysis.
- Working experience with Moody’s Risk Analytics would be a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills .
- Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency , including data analysis and validation.
- Working knowledge of credit systems such as nCino, with a demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to evolving banking systems and process changes.

- Desired Qualifications Perform secondary credit reviews , ensuring consistent quality, accuracy, and policy adherence.
- Conduct reviews of commercial loan financial analysis, identify policy exceptions, errors, and key risks , and provide credible challenge and escalation.
- Expert knowledge of credit lifecycle including underwriting principles and processes .
- Ability to develop a strong understanding of credit policies , procedures and workflows and keep up with the updates.
- Ensure adherence to SLA, quality, and business performance metrics.
- Focused on operational excellence , including suggesting process improvements, re‑engineering, and ensuring audit/regulatory readiness.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) supporting risk, business, and process improvement initiatives.
