THE ROLE The Director, Strategic Planning & Business Development serves as the division's leader for long-range strategy, growth initiatives, external partnerships, and ecosystem development.

Reporting to the Division Vice President, Global Strategic Marketing, this role is responsible for identifying and executing opportunities that accelerate growth through strategic planning, portfolio optimization, partnerships, licensing, alliances, and inorganic opportunities.

This leader serves as a key advisor to the ADC Leadership Team, translating market trends, customer needs, competitive intelligence, and emerging technologies into actionable strategic recommendations and growth initiatives. The role is accountable for driving the division's strategic planning process, developing and managing a robust external partnership ecosystem, and ensuring strategic investments align with long-term business objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL DO Strategic Planning: Design, establish, and maintain process for cross-functional strategic planning with focus on innovation roadmap Develop cross-functional network to incorporate multi-functional, short- and long-term business inputs and requirements for the division’s plan Establish cycle of information gathering and discuss implications across organizational levels (bottom up) Organize and facilitate leadership decision forums (top down) Conduct deep analyses to identify and project key industry trends and construct scenarios and implications for ADC Evaluate critical questions emerging from annual strategic planning cycle and assess implications on plan Develop and maintain knowledge base for relevant and adjacent industries (e.g. insulin delivery, diabetes pharmaceuticals, health tech, disease management) Synthesize complex, multifunctional inputs including customer needs, competitive trends, category shifts etc. that impact ADC’s strategy Communicate aspects of strategic plan to key stakeholders Develop cadence and level of information sharing across levels and functions Create synthesized presentation and communication tools Monitor progress on strategic objectives and develop metrics to progress Business Development: Develop and execute the division's business development roadmap aligned to strategic objectives.

Develop and manage a portfolio of partnerships across digital health, automated insulin delivery, health systems, payors, EHRs, data interoperability, and adjacent technology categories. Identify, assess, and pursue strategic partnerships, licensing opportunities, joint ventures, OEM relationships, and ecosystem collaborations.

Lead complex negotiations and structure commercial agreements with external partners. Build and manage relationships with executive stakeholders across partner organizations. Drive partnership performance and ensure achievement of commercial and strategic objectives.

Support diligence and integration planning for acquisitions and investment opportunities when applicable. OVERALL: Build organizational capabilities in strategic planning and business development. Develop succession plans and talent pipelines for future leadership positions.

Coach and mentor directors and senior managers. Foster a culture of strategic thinking, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Influence leaders across commercial, R&D, medical affairs, operations, finance, and international organizations.

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 12+ years of experience in strategic planning, management consulting, corporate strategy, business development, corporate development, investment banking, healthcare technology, life sciences, medical devices, or related fields.

Bachelor’s Degree with at least 10 years related business experience. Demonstrated experience developing enterprise or business unit strategy and executing complex commercial partnerships. Proven ability to influence senior executives and lead highly cross-functional initiatives.

Experience negotiating strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, alliances, acquisitions, or commercial transactions preferred. MBA or advanced degree preferred. The base pay for this position is $197,300.00 – $394,700.00 In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
