Job Title: Operations Lead Travel: None * * * The Opportunity: The Operations Lead oversees enterprise batch processing, payment disbursement execution, financial system integrations, and multi-agency coordination supporting the VA’s mission critical financial management systems.
This role provides technical leadership across environments, directs high volume processing operations, leads a team, provides direction, engages with VA leadership and stakeholders, supports the customer outside of non-core business hours, serves as a key liaison with Treasury, federal partners, and senior VA executives
Responsibilities
OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP Lead a team responsible for Batch Operations for VA, managing over 1000 jobs per day across five environments Oversee and execute payment disbursements in coordination with Treasury Support Accounting Year End and Annual Close processes Lead Wave go live coordination and schedule planning Lead and coordinate Disaster Recovery exercises Support customers outside non-core business hours to maintain operational continuity TECHNICAL ADMINISTRATION AND TROUBLESHOOTING Administer OpenShift including log reviews and platform support Lead Control M administration including scheduling, automation packages, upgrades, license tracking, and training Manage Linux server administration including FTP, account management, and access controls Use Shell, Perl, SQL, and WebMethods for automation and operational support Troubleshoot and debug complex issues using Java and C++ logs Lead, validate, and coordinate data fixes Support iFAMS configuration updates Provide user provisioning support SECURITY, COMPLIANCE, AND CONNECTIVITY Create and maintain ATO security documentation Coordinate with Network Operations to enable secure external connections Provide audit support including documentation, traceability, and evidence CROSS AGENCY AND EXECUTIVE COORDINATION Serve as liaison with Treasury, GSA, USDA, US Bank, and other external partners for MOUs, ISAs, and system connectivity Engage with VA leadership and stakeholders; prepare and deliver status updates Support O&M status gathering and reporting for Program leadership TEAM LEADERSHIP Serve as Agile planning lead and Scrum Master Manage team tasking, delivery commitments, and progress tracking Mentor and develop team members Provide direction and leadership oversight to ensure cohesive team execution Qualifications
Required
- Experience leading operations in complex enterprise environments with high volume batch pipelines Expertise in Control M, OpenShift, Linux, scripting languages
- SQL Experience with federal financial systems or large-scale payment operations Ability to troubleshoot multi language technical issues Experience producing ATO aligned documentation and supporting audits Strong communication skills for executive and cross agency interaction Demonstrated Agile leadership experience Proven experience leading a team and providing direction in demanding operational environments Desired: Experience with iFAMS, VA financial systems
- Treasury integrations Familiarity with DR and COOP events, federal financial infrastructure
