- Amazon's Payroll Technology organization is building the future of payroll processing at unprecedented scale — serving over 1.7 million employees across 50+ countries. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II to join our Payroll Integrations team and help design, build
- operate mission-critical systems that ensure every Amazonian gets paid accurately and on time. As an SDE II on this team, you will own end-to-end delivery of distributed systems that process and orchestrate employee payroll data across multiple upstream and downstream systems. You'll work on high-throughput data pipelines, configuration-driven integration frameworks
- automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve payroll accuracy at global scale. Your work will directly impact the employee experience for over a million people worldwide. Key job responsibilities What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, highly available services that power 65+ payroll integrations across multiple countries and vendors
- Build and optimize data pipelines that process employee lifecycle events — from new hires to terminations — ensuring timely and accurate data delivery to payroll systems
- Drive technical design decisions, author design documents, and collaborate with Principal Engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects
- Own operational excellence for production systems, including monitoring, alarming, on-call support, and continuous improvement of system reliability
- Identify and resolve ambiguous problems, propose innovative solutions, and raise the bar on engineering quality across the team
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - 3+ years of Video Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release
- Live Ops) experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing
