About Public Sector Banking Public Sector Banking is a strategic growth business within Citi Australia, partnering with Federal and State Governments, Central Banks, Government Business Enterprises, Export Credit Agencies, Universities, and other public institutions.
Working across Banking, Markets and Services, the team collaborates closely with colleagues throughout Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States to deliver integrated banking solutions, connect clients with Citi’s global capabilities and support long-term economic development.
We are seeking an Associate to work closely with the Head of Public Sector Banking Australia and to play an important role in managing and growing one of Citi Australia’s leading Corporate Banking franchises. The role combines client relationship management, business development, financial analysis, credit management, and strategic project execution, providing exposure to senior government clients, complex cross-border opportunities, and Citi’s integrated global banking platform.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious banker looking to develop into an independent relationship manager within Citi’s Corporate Bank. Key Responsibilities Client Coverage & Business Development Support and execute relationship strategies across Federal and State Governments, Central Banks, Government Business Enterprises, Universities and other public sector clients.
Prepare for and participate in senior client meetings, relationship planning, and account strategy. Monitor policy, economic and industry developments to identify emerging client opportunities. Support the origination and execution of opportunities across Citi’s Banking, Markets and Services businesses.
Coordinate opportunities with product partners and regional and global coverage teams. Prepare high-quality client presentations, executive briefing notes, and strategic discussion papers. Credit & Portfolio Management Own annual credit reviews, portfolio monitoring, and ongoing credit management for allocated clients.
Coordinate lending transactions, markets facilities and credit approvals. Management of KYC, AML, and client lifecycle requirements. Coordinate operational matters and payment escalations with Product, Operations, Risk, and Compliance. Ensure adherence to Citi’s credit standards, risk framework, and regulatory requirements.
Franchise Development & Collaboration Coordinate integrated client solutions across Banking, Markets and Services. Collaborate with colleagues across Australia and Citi’s regional and global network to connect Australian clients with Citi’s international capabilities.
Maintain the team’s opportunity pipeline, relationship plans and management reporting. Support strategic initiatives across treasury transformation, capital markets, and other priority public sector opportunities. Contribute to market intelligence and initiatives that strengthen Citi’s Public Sector Banking franchise.
Skills & Experience The successful candidates will demonstrate: 3-6 years’ experience in Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Infrastructure Finance, Transaction Banking, or another relevant financial services role. Strong analytical, financial and credit assessment skills.
Understanding on lending, transaction banking, foreign exchange, and capital markets products. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Strong commercial judgement and relationship management capability. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and deliver outcomes across a matrix organisation.
High levels of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail. Education Bachelor's degree/university degree or equivalent experience.
