Job Title: Security Specialist, Journeyman Travel: Continental US * * * The Opportunity: The Security Specialist is responsible for implementing, administering, and enforcing security policies and procedures that protect personnel, facilities, information, and information systems supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) missions.
This position ensures compliance with applicable federal security regulations, manages security operations for cleared facilities, supports personnel security activities, and collaborates with program leadership to mitigate physical, operational, and cybersecurity risks.
The successful candidate will possess extensive experience supporting classified environments and maintaining compliance with National Industrial Security Program (NISP), Intelligence Community, and DoD security requirements
Responsibilities
- Implement, administer, and enforce security programs for cleared facilities in accordance with applicable DoD, Intelligence Community, and federal security regulations.
- Support personnel security processes, including preparation and coordination of federal security investigations, visit requests, indoctrinations, debriefings, and security briefings.
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct physical security inspections, facility security assessments, self-inspections, and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with government security representatives and internal stakeholders to ensure continued compliance with security requirements.
- Investigate security incidents and potential security violations, document findings, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain security documentation, records, access control systems, and classified material accountability.
- Deliver security education, awareness training, and recurring briefings for cleared personnel.
- Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to support implementation of security controls that protect classified and mission-critical systems.
- Assist with monitoring security events, responding to incidents, and supporting vulnerability remediation efforts.
- Support implementation of endpoint security controls, system hardening, and security best practices across program environments.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, government agencies, and customer security offices during investigations or incident response activities as required.
- Stay current on evolving security regulations, emerging threats, and industry best practices to continually improve program security posture.
- Serve as a trusted security advisor to program leadership and support multiple security initiatives across the organization
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Cybersecurity, Information Technology
- a related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of experience supporting security operations within Department of Defense (DoD), Combatant Command (COCOM)
- Intelligence Community environments.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and managing security programs for classified operations and cleared facilities.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- Thorough knowledge of DoD and Intelligence Community security policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong experience conducting security risk assessments, investigations, compliance inspections, and security audits.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Desired: Department of Defense Special Security Officer (SSO) Corporate Facility Security Officer (FSO) experience.
- FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities Certification.
- ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and/or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification.
- Experience supporting cybersecurity compliance initiatives and coordinating with Cybersecurity or Information Assurance teams.
- Experience supporting NISPOM, ICD 705, DCSA, or SAP/SCI environments. - What You Can Expect: A culture of integrity.
