Job Title: Cyber Security Engineer Job Category: Information Technology Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Top Secret Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Continental US * * * The Opportunity: CACI is seeking a skilled Cyber Security Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure systems and networks.
The successful candidate will work closely with CACI's development and IT teams to integrate security best practices, identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with industry standards. You’ll contribute to strengthening the security posture of critical infrastructure and systems supporting CACI operations.
Office location for this opportunity is in: Austin, TX Responsibilities: Design and implement robust security protocols to protect systems and data across diverse environments. Provide security-focused insights and technical support for network and infrastructure architecture.
Research and implement the latest security technologies and practices to stay ahead of emerging threats. Participates in the ongoing evaluation of the overall security architecture and provides recommendations and technical input on solutions and remediation approaches.
Convey knowledge and security focused comprehensive solutions to technically complex systems and challenges encountered while implementing security Provide full Assessment & Authorization (A&A) support and technical security guidance in all phases of the system authorization process and/or Risk Management Framework (RMF) Works in close coordination with the ISSOs to resolve failed security controls and mitigate vulnerabilities Design and implement robust security protocols to protect systems and data across diverse environments.

Required
- Education and Clearance: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology
- a related field (will consider relevant experience in lieu of a degree) and 5+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience.
- Must have an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility to start.
- Experience and Skills: Skilled in software development using Python and Java, with a strong foundation in designing and implementing new applications and scripts.
- Proficient in adapting, porting, and maintaining existing applications and scripts, with experience in shell scripting and JavaScript.
- Experienced in identifying and implementing design improvements and functional automation solutions (e.g., infrastructure and data automation, API integrations) to enhance efficiency.
- Proficient with software version control systems, such as Git, to manage collaborative development and project histories effectively.
- Strong documentation skills, creating clear, comprehensive release documentation to support ongoing software maintenance and user understanding.
- Experienced with REST API implementation and utilization, working with both structured (e.g., JSON) and unstructured data.
- Experienced in Dataflow / ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) frameworks and data engineering to create, troubleshoot, and optimize data ingest pipelines for streamlined data processing.
- Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity engineering activities, including cybersecurity analysis, vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, and remediation efforts.
- Experienced in hardening operating systems (Windows, Linux) and applications to align with best security practices and compliance requirements.
- Risk Management Framework (RMF) working knowledge Certifications: Security+ and either Linux+ or Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
- capable of performing at Information Assurance Technical Level II as per DoD 8140 guidelines.
- Proficient in security toolsets, such as vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys), intrusion detection systems, and SIEM platforms.
- Skilled in secure coding practices and familiarity with the software development lifecycle, with a focus on secure application development.
- Ability to manage software version control effectively, ensuring secure, collaborative code development with tools like Git.
- Experience with incident response, including identifying, analyzing, and responding to security breaches in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks, such as NIST, CIS, and DoD 8140, and ability to implement security controls in alignment with these standards.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks.
- Ability to work independently and within a team, adapting to dynamic security challenges.
- US Citizenship is required.
- Desired: Advanced certifications, such as CISSP, CEH, or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
- Experience with advanced penetration testing tools and methodologies.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform or Ansible, for secure infrastructure management.
- Understanding of data encryption techniques and secure data handling practices.
- Proficiency in additional programming languages (e.g., C++, Ruby) for enhanced code versatility.
