Senior Director, Construction
Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence . As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads.
When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster. We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.
We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.
If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe. About the Role Crusoe is scaling hyperscale AI data center campuses across the country, and we're looking for a seasoned construction leader to own delivery across a major program or geography.
As Senior Director of Construction, you'll set the strategy and operating model for a portfolio of our most critical builds, own the budgets and schedules that make them successful, and build and shape the construction organization that delivers them - including developing the next generation of senior construction leaders.
This is a role that spans hands-on delivery and organizational leadership: you're close enough to the work to solve real problems on real job sites, and senior enough to partner with Executive leadership on workforce strategy, capital priorities, and succession planning as Crusoe's construction program scales.
What You'll Own Own the strategy and operating model for construction delivery across a defined geography or major program, partnering with DIG (Digital Infrastructure Group) leadership to set 12-month delivery targets and capital investment priorities.
Lead a portfolio of complex, hyperscale AI Data Center construction programs, accountable for on-time, on-budget delivery and for the organizational investments that improve delivery velocity and quality. Oversee multiple simultaneous data center construction programs where decisions carry division-level risk and directly affect Crusoe's ability to meet regional compute capacity commitments.
Solve problems that cross site, contractor, and functional boundaries by designing scalable delivery frameworks and program management methodologies - navigating contractor market constraints, regulatory complexity, and capital allocation decisions at the same time.
Build, mentor, and lead a team of construction management professionals and specialists - hiring well, developing talent, and creating a culture where people do their best work. Lead with strong emotional intelligence; read team dynamics, navigate conflict constructively so you can build high-performing construction management teams that stay together.
Partner with DIG and Executive leadership on organizational structure, workforce strategy, and succession planning as Crusoe's construction program scales, and develop the next generation of senior construction leaders within the function. Manage executive stakeholder relationships and drive organizational performance through effective leadership and accountability, partnering with GCs, subcontractors, and internal teams to align on project plans and long-range build strategy.
Drive cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Real Estate to keep projects aligned with company-wide objectives. Stay current on construction best practices, methodologies, and industry trends, and apply that knowledge to raise the bar across your portfolio.
Travel as needed (up to 40%) to oversee multiple project sites. What You'll Bring to the Team 15+ years of experience in construction management of mission-critical projects, including direct experience delivering hyperscale data centers, large hospitals, or highly complex infrastructure projects.
A proven track record of managing and delivering challenging, large-budget project portfolios on time and on budget, at the scale of multiple concurrent programs. Experience building organizational capability, not just delivering projects - you've built, led, or grown construction management or project teams and developed managers and directors within them.
Comfort making consequential decisions with incomplete information and competing priorities, and balancing technical and resource tradeoffs across teams and programs. High EQ and strong people leadership instincts, you know how to get the best out of a team under pressure and tight deadlines.
Deep understanding of construction best practices, budgeting, scheduling and quality management, with the judgment to apply them across multiple projects at once. Ability to operate across multiple stakeholders; internal leadership, GCs, subcontractors, cross-functional and executive partners in a fast-moving, high-growth environment
