Compliance Officer
- Amazon is seeking a Tax Analyst to join the Withholding Tax team in our India office. As a member of the Withholding Tax team, the Tax Analyst is responsible for understanding & operationalizing withholding tax requirements to ensure compliance with tax identity collection, withholding determination and information reporting requirements. You will also be required to handle end-to-end queries from vendors/ sellers/business, identify customer-impacting issues
- implement solutions and processes to increase customer satisfaction. A highly organized self-starter with excellent communication and time management skills will be successful on this team. The candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, is customer-focused, self-motivated and prioritizes multiple tasks in a deadline-driven and dynamic environment. Key job responsibilities Own end-to-end identity validation and queries for payees across assigned regions including collection, review
- maintenance of tax forms and associated documents. Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on tax identity requirements for assigned region - providing guidance to internal business partners, compliance teams
- technology teams. Lead process improvement initiatives — identify automation and simplification opportunities, author and maintain SOPs
- drive reduction in manual effort. Foster strong cross-functional relationships with internal business partners by serving as the Tax liaison for general inquiries and project/process initiatives. Partner cross-functionally with Tech, Product Management, Compliance
- Controllership teams to resolve systemic issues, improve payee experience
- reduce operational risk. Lead testing for country launches and system enhancements — design test scenarios, document defects
- validate fixes ahead of production deployment. Track key metrics for identity coverage, documentation accuracy
- processing timeliness to surface compliance gaps and inform decisions. Effectively resolve and escalate issues, demonstrate excellent record of delivery. A day in the life Your day will involve engaging with various teams, acting as a subject matter expert

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field - Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level - Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department - 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
