Focus of the Role Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable Backend applications. Drive best practices for state management, component architecture, performance optimization, and reusable UI development. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot, following clean coding, modular design, and engineering best practices. Develop and integrate REST APIs with enterprise platforms and API Gateway solutions Contribute to DevOps and GitOps-based CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, Bamboo, and ArgoCD.

Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot applications on Managed OpenShift / Kubernetes environments. Implement secure authentication and authorization flows using Entra ID, OAuth, and enterprise security patterns. Design and manage data persistence using technologies such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL.

Where required, contribute to front-end development using ReactJS, TypeScript, Gatsby, Vue.js, or similar frameworks. Develop workflow-driven solutions using orchestration platforms such as Camunda, Temporal, or similar. Implement secure configuration and secrets management using ESM Vault or equivalent secret management tools.

Participate in production support, incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities. Collaborate with engineers, product owners, platform teams, designers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver scalable solutions.

Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and mentoring team members. Promote engineering best practices across the team, including code quality, testability, maintainability, automation, and operational readiness.

Support modern front-end patterns, including reusable UI components, responsive design, accessibility, and Micro Frontend architecture. Work with UX/UI teams to interpret designs and mock-ups using tools such as Figma. Support containerized and cloud-native delivery models aligned to enterprise standards.

Essential Skills and Experience Strong hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot application development. Experience designing, developing, and integrating REST APIs . Good understanding of microservices architecture, modular design, and clean coding principles.

Good understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices , preferably using GitLab CI and other GitOps based CD tools Good understanding of Kubernetes and K8 ecosystem of solutions A fair understanding of AUTHaaS, OIDC/OAuth 2 integrations, or similar identity patterns.

Experience working with RDBMS and NoSQL databases such as Experience using API Gateways Strong troubleshooting skills across application, integration, and platform layers. Ability to write clean, maintainable, testable, and production-ready code.

Basic UNIX/Linux administration and command-line experience. Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional Agile teams. Optional / Good to Have Skills Good understanding with front-end development using: ReactJS,TypeScript,JavaScript,Vue.js,Gatsby Understanding of modern front-end architecture patterns including: Micro Frontends Reusable component design, State management using Redux or similar frameworks, Server-side rendering concepts.

Good understanding using UI frameworks such as Material UI. Ability to interpret and collaborate on UI/UX designs using Figma. Knowledge of Node.js-based applications, build tooling, and package management ecosystems. Understanding of Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.

Knowledge of reverse proxies and web traffic management concepts. Understanding of system design principles such as: Scalability, Resilience, Fault tolerance, Performance optimization. Knowledge of TM Forum / TMF APIs and telecom domain integration.

Exposure to platform engineering concepts. Good understanding working in multi-tenant or shared platform environments, including tenancy models in orchestration platforms such as Camunda. Familiarity with Telstra security practices, standards, and enterprise integration patterns.

Exposure to telecommunications or large-scale enterprise environments. Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers. We're amongst the top 2% of companies globally in the CDP Global Climate Change Index 2023, being awarded an 'A' rating.
