Become a part of our caring community Humana is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting Team supporting the Medicaid line of business. You will play an important part in the month-end close process for multiple Medicaid plans, completing work according to Humana's close schedule.
You will report to the Director, General Accounting with responsibilities including preparing journal entries, reconciling ledger accounts, reviewing financial results against budget or forecast, and contributing to the forecasting process.
This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys analyzing complex financial data, solving problems, and partnering across teams. You will work with moderately complex to complex accounting issues that require critical thinking and the ability to evaluate multiple factors.
If you are a proactive problem-solver who enjoys combining accounting, analysis, and collaboration, we encourage you to consider this opportunity. Prepare journal entries using data extracted from the data warehouse through coding or query-based processes.
Record, analyze, and report accounting transactions and ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable accounting policies and principles. Administer designated provider and vendor payment processes. Provide financial support through forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and review of financial performance against budget.
Present financial results, insights and important variance explanations to market partners. Support State reporting requirements, audit inquiries, and market needs. Support IT-related projects. Use your skills to make an impact Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting or a finance-related area. 3 or more years of experience in accounting, finance, or as an IT programmer.
Preferred Qualifications Prior SQL or coding experience. Health insurance or Medicaid experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or active pursuit of CPA certification. Additional Information Location: Louisville, KY preferred Workstyle: Hybrid office.
If in Louisville area, required to come into office 2-3 days per week. Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am – 5pm EST Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Pay Range The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. $78,400 - $107,800 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
