All Job Posting Locations: Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India Job Description: The Lead Engineer serves as the senior technical leader within a squad supporting Clinical Operations, translating business needs and user stories into high-quality, scalable, secure, and compliant software solutions.
This role guides engineers through design, development, testing, deployment, validation, and continuous improvement while promoting strong engineering practices, technical mentorship, and delivery excellence. The Lead Engineer partners closely with Product Owners, Clinical Operations stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to shape technical direction, manage dependencies, and ensure solutions are fit for purpose in a modern product development environment and aligned to clinical workflows, data integrity, and regulatory expectations.
Location: Hyderabad/ Bangalore. Key Responsibilities Lead squad engineers in designing, developing, configuring, testing, deploying, validating, and maintaining software solutions that support Clinical Operations processes and translate business and product needs into working code.
Provide hands-on technical leadership and problem solving, guiding engineers through implementation decisions using modern design patterns and architectural principles in regulated and security-conscious environments. Ensure code quality, documentation, maintainability, traceability, and alignment with engineering standards, validation expectations, and best practices.
Drive solution testing, validation, and deployment, including automated testing and release readiness to support quality, reliability, and inspection readiness. Mentor and coach technical team members through code reviews, feedback, and day-to-day guidance on engineering practices, compliance-minded development, and continuous improvement.
Define and communicate a shared technical and architectural vision so solutions are fit for purpose and aligned with Clinical Operations strategy and squad goals. Improve operational efficiency by leveraging and enhancing the SDLC toolchain, including CI/CD automation, test automation, and related engineering tooling appropriate for regulated delivery.
Manage technical debt, vulnerability remediation, and movement of code across environments into production while maintaining controls required for regulated systems. Collaborate with Product Owners and Clinical Operations stakeholders to refine stories, define acceptance criteria, and support backlog readiness from a technical perspective.
Partner with other Lead Engineers and squads to manage dependencies, resolve impediments, mitigate risks, and support cross-squad delivery across clinical platforms, integrations, and data flows. Work with business and technical stakeholders to design and support integrations across Clinical Operations platforms, including clinical trial management, document management, and related enterprise systems.
Support onboarding of new engineers and provide recommendations on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks and evolving Clinical Operations priorities. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, health sciences, information systems, computer science, data analytics, engineering, or a related field.
Requires 3–5 years of experience in Clinical Operations technology, software engineering, or related digital product domains, with hands-on experience in designing, building, and delivering scalable solutions. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to guide technical implementation, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support end-to-end delivery in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Experience leading software engineering efforts in a product development environment, including software design, development, validation, and delivery. Strong expertise in modern technology stacks and software engineering practices used within the organization.
Demonstrated ability to guide technical priorities across a squad backlog and support effective delivery planning, including AI-enabled product and engineering initiatives. Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, solution architecture, API architecture and design, systems integration, and building, fine-tuning, or integrating AI/ML models into production solutions.
Experience building secure, scalable, maintainable, and compliant software solutions aligned to customer and business needs. Solid understanding of Generative AI and Agentic AI concepts, patterns, and practical application in enterprise environments, including prompt design, orchestration, and responsible AI considerations.
Ability to mentor engineers, conduct effective code reviews, and foster strong technical and professional development within the team. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across squads and with cross-functional stakeholders, including Clinical Operations business partners.
Experience working with regulated systems and an understanding of GxP/GCP principles, validation expectations, auditability, data integrity, and controlled organizational change. Commitment to continuous learning, quality, and continuous improvement in software delivery and engineering practices.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in Health Technology domains such as clinical systems, digital health platforms, data engineering and analytics, cybersecurity, cloud engineering/DevOps, intelligent automation, integration engineering, or platform engineering.
Experience designing and delivering solutions using Generative AI, Agentic AI, large language models, and related AI engineering frameworks is preferred. Knowledge of agile product development practices and collaboration models with Product Owners, Clinical Operations stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
Experience managing technical debt, vulnerability remediation, and production release processes. Experience supporting Clinical Operations capabilities and platforms, including CTMS, eTMF, study startup, site engagement, inspection readiness, document management, reporting, workflow automation, or related trial support solutions.
Professional certifications relevant to software development, agile delivery, product development, cloud platforms, AI engineering, or regulated systems are a plus. Experience working in regulated, security-conscious, or large-scale enterprise environments is preferred.
