We're seeking a Director, Professional Services Category Management to join our team. In this pivotal role, you'll be accountable for optimizing our professional services spend and enhancing our strategic partnerships, all without direct reports.
Your expertise will directly influence short-term operational success and contribute meaningfully to our long-term objectives. The Experience This position holds strategic responsibility for a critical area of corporate impact: Professional Services Category Management.
You'll operate within established guidelines, making decisions that directly influence business unit operations with a planning horizon of 6 to 12 months. Your work will have a limited, yet meaningful, effect on long-term outcomes, primarily through the development of robust category strategies and strong internal and external partnerships.
Strategic Partnership and Business Alignment You'll be crucial in fostering strategic partnerships, both internally and externally. This includes ensuring your initiatives are fully aligned with broader business objectives and corporate strategies, directly contributing to the company's overarching goals.
You'll drive alignment and create value by identifying opportunities to leverage external expertise while maintaining internal capabilities. Interaction & Influence You'll have frequent contact with peers across the organization and regularly interact with senior internal business partners on critical matters.
This includes engaging with VP, SVP, and even more senior levels regarding projects, operational decisions, and commitments within your immediate area of work. Furthermore, you'll often participate in meetings with external representatives such as vendors, customers, and consultants, all related to your core responsibilities.
Your ability to influence without direct authority will be key to your success. What You'll Actually Be Doing A key aspect of this position involves managing Services Sourcing Categories, encompassing both routine tasks and complex initiatives.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies across a diverse portfolio. You'll apply a maturity standpoint to assess and advance the effectiveness of each category, focusing on areas such as: Process Maturity: Streamlining and optimizing sourcing, contracting, and vendor management processes.
Technology Enablement: Leveraging appropriate tools and systems to enhance efficiency and insights. Talent & Expertise: Identifying and cultivating the necessary internal and external capabilities to manage each category effectively. Relationships: Your approach will be characterized by 360-degree relationship management, ensuring effective collaboration and value creation with all stakeholders, including internal business partners, suppliers, and external experts.
You're Our Person If... Proven experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement, with a focus on professional services. Demonstrated ability to influence and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across an organization.
Experience in developing and implementing category strategies for complex services. Strong understanding of supplier relationship management and contract negotiation. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience; a Master's degree is a plus.
