Senior Coordinator, Financial Counseling

What Financial Assistance Counseling (RCM) contributes to Cardinal Health Practice Operations Management oversees the business and administrative operations of a medical practice. Financial assistance counselors guide patients through their healthcare financial obligations.

The Senior Coordinator, Financial Counseling is responsible for managing patients' authorizations for the medical care they receive while at South Bay Radiation Oncology Center. In addition, they will help cover front desk duties such as checking patients in, answering phones, verifying demographics, and other duties as needed.

Responsibilities Authorization for radiation, consultations and all of the imaging the providers request Research and re-submit denials from billing department Verify patients’ benefits information including their deductibles and co-insurance information Collecting time of service payments prior to the patient receiving their treatment or setting up a payment plan for the patient prior to treatment services Will assist and help cover front desk duties including check in, check out, answering phones, scheduling appointments Pull medical records to make sure patients have labs, testing, imaging or anything that the provider needs prior to their appointment Other duties as assigned by management Qualifications 3-6 years of experience, preferred High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience, preferred Prior experience working within healthcare financial services At least 1 year of prior medical office experience, preferred Medical knowledge, preferred What is expected of you and others at this level Effectively applies knowledge of job and company policies and procedures to complete a variety of assignments In-depth knowledge in technical or specialty area Applies advanced skills to resolve complex problems independently May modify process to resolve situations Works independently within established procedures; may receive general guidance on new assignments May provide general guidance or technical assistance to less experienced team members Anticipated hourly range: $20.90 per hour - $33 per hour Bonus eligible: No Benefits: Cardinal Health offers a wide variety of benefits and programs to support health and well-being.
